This Villa was purpose built to provide clean water to needy villages in Africa through its proceeds. I (the owner/builder of the villa) believe that all people should have access to clean water. However, for two billion people this is not the case. I asked an African lady if they got sick from the water (as she was pulling her bucket from what looked like a swamp), she told me “just some diarrhea, but it goes away after a few days, cholera doesn’t happen very often”. - VERY OFTEN!!! What? People die from cholera! Wow this was so far from my reality, and it broke my heart. So far I have been on two well drilling missions, one in Burkina Faso, and one in Malawi setting up multiple wells each trip. This video is the reaction from the children who just received a well in their village:
These children sang so loudly in the open air that my friend’s Apple watch’s warning went off suggesting hearing loss could happen due to the loud sound! These children are so excited – not because they have won a trip to Disney land, nor because they won a new Iphone – No they are so excited because from now on they can pump (by hand) clean water within a hundred meters of their home, rather than walking a mile to fetch unsanitary water! Each well costs $6800 CAD ($ 5000 USD) - this is what the local driller charges. If you would like to come on a trip to experience the joy, you are welcome to join me (at your own expense). As of Oct. 2023 we have nearly enough for 3 wells. Once we have enough for 4 or more, I will go to have them drilled during the dry season (April – Oct.)
